Superb octagonal dish in hand-glazed earthenware, made in the pottery workshop of the Notre-Dame du Bec Abbey, in Normandy. This unique piece, produced in the 1960s–70s, features a very original stylized decoration representing a Norman cottage, in a rustic and contemplative spirit specific to monastic creations of the time. The reverse is glazed in a deep chocolate brown, and bears the intaglio signature Abbaye Notre-Dame du Bec. Signature: Abbaye Notre-Dame du Bec (intaglio) Note: a visible chip in one corner (see photos). The rest of the piece is in very good condition. The interior glaze is patinated and cracked by time. This does not detract from its decorative charm or its rarity. Dimensions 35 cm X 24.5 cm Beautiful original piece at the crossroads of spiritual craftsmanship and regional aesthetics.
