Art Nouveau appetiser tray, Orivit, Germany, early 20th century

A Secessionist appetiser tray, produced at the beginning of the 20th century by the renowned German manufacturer Orivit, made of pewter or another noble white metal. Its cool, silvery matte finish and asymmetrical, undulating shape reflect the Art Nouveau turn towards nature. The form is emphasised by the flowing lines of the rim and a handle with two rounded holes, harmoniously integrated with the rest of the composition. The decorative surface of the tray is adorned with precise, raised motifs of maple leaves and samaras, with clearly marked veins and texture details. The tray has retained the clarity of all decorative elements and shows no signs of modern intervention – subtle scratches and a noble patina are visible, and the overall condition is described as very good.
