Pair of enamel vases with inverted decorations. Appeared at the end of the nineteenth century in the province of satsuma in southern japan, this porcelain is characterized by its ivory background and a multitude of very colorful decorations in mainly ocher tones, embellished with gilded bronze. This pair of vases is the perfect example, using all the criteria of authenticity of satsuma vases. On the belly is a representation of samurai at the edge of a lake, not far from a pagoda, sitting on the ground. The collar is short, covered with abstract decorations and circled crosses. the foot also has small spirals.
