Pair of D4 (formerly B4) foldable lounge chairs (Faltsessel) by Marcel Breuer. Originally designed at the Bauhaus in 1926/27, this particular pair is an early edition by Tecta 1970s. This modernist design classic is part of various museums worldwide, including the MoMa. The chairs have a nickel plated steel frame and still the original thick saddle leather seat, back- and armrests. The natural leather gained a fantastic patina over the years. They have a folding mechanism, so if necessary they can be stored in a space-safing manner. In my opinion a nicer chair than the more common Wassily chair, also by Marcel Breuer. This version in this beautiful natural leather is not offered a lot and therefore very hard to find. The chairs are in good used condition with traces of use. The frames are still excellent. The leather is coloured and stained by age and usage, but is still strong, sturdy and very appealing.
