Bathroom retro mirror, 1930s-40s

1930s-40s bathroom retro mirror. It features a single piece with a curved top mirror, a black glass shelf, and a chrome steel gallery. A rare model, it showcases the geometry of the Art Deco style with a softened arch, chrome, and clean lines, but in its utilitarian version, that of water rooms. Here, a mirror, a shelf, and a gallery, with a chrome wire edge running along three sides, form a single unit. The structure is made of solid wood painted black, with nickel-plated bars on the edges of the mirror, secured by slotted screws. The shelf is made of black glass: smooth and shiny on top, grooved on the back. This vintage mirror is mounted on the wall using its two hanging notches on the back. In a bathroom, the gallery holds a bottle, soap, or a cream pot; in an entrance, it can hold keys and glasses; in a bedroom, above a table, it creates a vanity corner. It also works in a toilet, where every bit of storage counts. The spots on the silvering and the chipped paint in places on the uprights testify to its history. White marks on the right upright, old marks under the shelf: all signs of use consistent with its age. The back is original, made of light wood, with a kraft paper backing, and has two notches cut into the top rail for mounting. Dimensions: W.51 X D.12.5 X H.42.5 cm.
