Design: marcel breuer (1902-1981) model: s32 condition: very good condition. Woven without damage. Description marcel breuer was a german-hungarian architect and designer. He was one of the central figures of modern architecture and design in the 20th century. Marcel breuer began his career in 1920 at the bauhaus in weimar, where he began an apprenticeship as a carpenter and was later appointed head of the furniture workshop. Inspired by the dutch de stijl movement and soviet constructivism, breuer began building innovative furniture from tubular steel. Among others, the b32 cantilever chair and the radically avant-garde b3 (wassily) club chair from 1925 were created. Forced by his jewish origins, marcel breuer left germany after hitler came to power in 1933. After spending time in budapest and london, he emigrated to the united states in 1937. There, he founded the faculty of architecture at harvard university with walter gropius. From 1946 onward, marcel breuer worked exclusively as a freelance architect. In the following years, an impressive body of groundbreaking buildings was created. These include the unesco headquarters in paris.
