It rests on a fluted column barrel with a turned base adorned with a golden bronze ring, tripod footing in doucine. Paris work. End of the louis XVI period. A comparable piece in the collections of the national furniture, inv. Gme-13874-000. The encyclopedia of diderot and d'alembert (1751-1772) says of him that "his convenience is to be transported wherever one wants." so the pedestas were equipped with wheels, here absent. As a side table, this piece of furniture becomes, depending on the time of day, tea table, writing table or torchbearer.
