Antique Art Deco wall mirror

The design is smart and simple: an octagonal frame surrounding a silver mirrored surface. Art deco references are present in the straight lines, geometric shapes and clean edges. The solid wood frame is made of polished oak. Signs of artisanal quality in the geometric joints and exquisite design of the sculptural frame which combines convex and concave shapes, all carved from solid oak. The octagonal mirror surface is accentuated by the scalloped segments and linear decoration creating a large concentric movement. The curves on the back raise the top of the frame slightly off the wall, adding depth to the room. The linear, flat exterior trim emphasizes the octagonal shape. The quality antique silver mirror surface is original to the piece. It is very thick and has a beveled edge that adds depth and a subtle emerald shimmer when viewed from the sides. On the back is the original solid wood backplate. The old paper cover is mostly gone, showing the craftsmanship. To hang the mirror on the wall, two screw rings are attached to the wooden plate with a larger ring securing the metal chain. This antique mirror is in good condition for its age. The antique patina has been preserved. The wood frame is sound and the joints are tight, with no cracks or dents, and only minor marks and light age-related rubbing. The mirror surface is clean and highly reflective, with no chips. Minor surface marks and light foxing in places, as expected with age and use.
