This stoneware teapot is a rare piece from the Danish ceramic school of the 1960s and 1970s, a period when many Scandinavian potters were openly inspired by Japanese art. Its compact and meditative design borrows from traditional kyūsu—with its short spout, side handle, and flat lid adorned with engraved motifs. Modeled from dense, dark stoneware, it is enhanced with freehand incised lines, the organic curves of which are reminiscent of roots, seaweed, or abstract calligraphy. The sculpted handle, both massive and elegant, asserts a more Nordic rigor. Unsigned but superbly executed, this piece could have been used in a tea ceremony or enthroned as a domestic sculpture. Dimensions: H 12.5 cm X W 20 cm (spout to handle) X body 14 X 14 cm Material: glazed stoneware, incised decoration Origin: Denmark Period: 1960s-70s Condition: perfect.
