Provençal wooden bread bin

Provençal bread bin made of dark wood, consisting of a rectangular container formed by turned wooden columns, a small central door, and ending with four moulded wooden feet known as "candelés". The Provençal bread bin was designed to store and preserve bread at a time when it was made at home or in the communal oven. It flourished in the 18th century as a true social marker with its carved wooden decorations and resembles a sculpture in the homes of the wealthiest. It is then mounted on the wall while traditionally retaining its feet, sometimes adorned with fabric on the door. Solid and healthy, this bread bin is in very good overall condition. We have completely cleaned and polished it to diminish the discreet signs of age. Ideal for storing food or any other items of your choice, it will add a vintage touch to your decor.
