Condition: Good condition, with moderate signs of use. Description: Born in Hamburg in 1934, Horst Brüning was a German designer and architect. Brüning studied architecture and industrial design at the Hamburg School of Fine Arts (Hochschule für Bildende Künste) until 1954. Subsequently, the young designer interned at Arne Jacobsen's studio in Copenhagen. After returning to Germany in 1963, Brüning opened his own workshop in Stuttgart. It was here that many innovative creations for renowned manufacturers such as COR, Kill International, and Behr were born. For the latter, the designer created the furniture for the German pavilion at the 1969 Montreal World Expo. During this time, Brüning maintained a friendship with Danish designers Jørgen Kastholm and Preben Fabricius. Their collaboration and exchange of ideas had a lasting impact on both parties. In addition to his work as a designer, Horst Brüning taught at the University of Applied Sciences (FH) in Darmstadt from 1969 to 2000. Horst Brüning's work is characterised by clarity, balanced proportions, and functionality. Through his aesthetic, he played a crucial role in post-war German modernism.
