French vintage butter dish. L'Alsace

Gorgeous french vintage butter dish from l"alsace, in the north of france, in a beautiful dark brown decorated with flowers and leaves. Alsatian pottery, which has an ancient history, reached its peak in the 19th century, both in terms of technical improvements and variety of shapes and decorations. Throughout alsace, numerous pottery workshops responded to significant popular demand by manufacturing terracotta containers and tableware, elements of domestic equipment used on a daily basis. I really like this butter dish not only because of its look (it's wonderful, by the way) but also because it has perfect measurements for the butter. What a big difference it makes to serve food in its own container, especially when it is so pretty. It is in perfect condition. Measures 16.5 cm wide, 10.5 cm deep and 8 cm high.
