40s pink/salmon velvet crapaud armchair

Classic Crapaud armchair in the Second Empire style, but here in a later version, probably from the mid-20th century. It is called Crapaud because of its compact shape, gondola backrest, and short legs that are usually hidden. It is covered in a velvet of bronze or olive colour, very characteristic of the 1940s to 1960s. It features a fringe of braiding or trimming around the entire base, which is typical for concealing the wooden legs and giving a plush appearance. Decorative buttons can also be seen on the armrests. It has a registered design and patented system under the seat. The armchair is in good original condition. The wooden legs are in a turned or spindle style. The seat is still rounded, and the padding (probably springs and horsehair or foam depending on the exact period) is still intact.
