Coffee table signed R. Capron, Les Herbiers Collection, Vallauris – 1960

A beautiful rectangular table by Roger Capron (1922-2006), a French ceramicist who received numerous awards and enjoys great renown today. A passionate artist, he surrounded himself with the finest artisans of Vallauris to create this piece from the "Les Herbiers" collection. This vintage table is crafted from garrigue tiles made by pressing plants native to the South of France, which, once fired, leave a magnificently detailed charred imprint. The artist then sculpts each tile to achieve this impressively realistic result. This ochre-colored table features curved side edges and a wooden frame with four sturdy legs. The alternating geometry of the tiles and the blend of brown tones highlight the creativity of the artist Roger Capron. The "CAPRON VALLAURIS FRANCE" stamp is present in the lower left corner.
