Old slipware plate: vine leaves

This vintage dessert/cheese plate is an explosion of greenery under glaze. On a turquoise background with woven chevron patterns, large vine leaves modelled in high relief flourish in shades of olive green and emerald, interspersed with sinuous tendrils reflecting brown hues. The border is animated by small burgundy geometric patterns, adding an unexpected chromatic note to this composition of striking vitality. A beautiful piece of naturalistic slipware, in the great tradition of French earthenware from the late 19th century — Onnaing, Sarreguemines or similar. A chip to note on the reverse (visible in the photos). Diameter: 21.2 cm.
