Cedar bowl North African handicrafts Ideal in empty pocket or jewelry box Height 4,5cm Diameter 13,5cm 💡A little history One of the first uses of thuja was for the construction of the ceilings of beautiful mansions or mosques, as can still be seen in traditional houses, and also as it can be found in some of the rooms of Dar Liouba. Then cedar was used for the manufacture of chests, boxes, furniture, which could be left in the natural state, varnished or painted. At the end of the 19th century, some marquetry artists from Salé joined Essaouira, bringing with them their centuries-old traditions of marquetry and inlays of patterns most often geometric in ivory or ebene for the oldest, in mother-of-pearl, sometimes in silver threads and now more commonly in lemon wood.
