This chair is an excellent example of a rattan and carved wood chair, typical of the Victorian or Edwardian style, with possible influences from the Renaissance or neo-Renaissance for the carved elements. Main features: Rattan seat: Very common in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, especially for living room or office chairs. Carved backrest: The carved patterns, notably the medallions with relief portraits, scrolls, and floral ornaments, are typical of Victorian (1837-1901) or Edwardian (1901-1910) style furniture. Dark wood: Often made of walnut or oak, which was highly prized at that time for quality furniture. These chairs were often used in bourgeois salons or offices and were appreciated for their comfort and richly decorated aesthetics. Breton model, provenance Château in Finistère. Dimensions: 88x40x42cm.
