Hat trunk of the Louvre Paris

Beautiful little trunk with hat fitting with lion lying at the foot of a large l. This logo refers to the "galeries du louvre" (chauchard et cie) in 1855, renamed in 1857: "grands magasins du louvre", only 3 years after the famous "bon marché". We are therefore immediately immersed in the history and luxury of an era even before the war of 1870. In other words, historically, this trunk comes from the mid-nineteenth century. The logo, a registered trademark, well known to amateurs, is that of the "jewelry" of the grands magasins du louvre. To travel, it took a family, countless trunks... Including those with hats to match outfits and headgear. It is covered with a brown coated canvas and surrounded by leather borders. This stunning, almost cubic case is equipped with an original leather handle. The stamp thus testifies to an authenticity that situates it as much in space as in time. In any case, it is a luxury trunk. Extremely rare, especially in such a beautiful state of preservation, this almost cubic trunk ("cube shape"), with a beautiful brown-fawn color, has a leather trim, as is the beautiful handle on the top. Its fittings, clasps and even some corners, are made of solid brass, stamped as we have already seen. All the lines attest at first glance to an object of high class. The interior is amazing. A 2nd thickness, rigid and domed, dressed in a pretty gray fabric is a particular nest for the hats that are placed there. If the fastening straps are marked by time, they still attest to the care taken to protect objects during travel. This hat trunk is a plus in a vintage decoration and also in a perspective of storage and decoration. At the end of the sofa, and even in bedside table, it brings to your decoration a presence, but also a remarkable elegance, which will be appreciated.
