What a wonderful glazing for this jug accompanied by 4 small glasses! The stoneware, very slightly chamotte, has been worked by turning and shaping, before the application of this superb glazing in milky grey and chocolate tones. Under the jug, an impressed stamp indicates that the workshop is located in Aizenay in Vendée, but I have not yet managed to identify the potter who created this beautiful artisanal work (the name indicated in the middle of the difficult-to-decipher seal, investigation ongoing, I will keep you informed here). I believe this is a set made for wine tasting: small glasses for tasting the wine, a jug for rinsing the glasses and palate between different tastings. Moreover, it is hand-engraved in relief, "Cave de la Vallée" on each of the items. Generally, I do not collect ceramics with markings, but I made an exception here because the marking remains quite general, but mainly because these ceramics are truly beautiful; the glasses and jug testify to a craftsmanship of great finesse and mastery. The set is in perfect condition, neither cracked nor chipped, not even a nick. The jug measures 18.5 cm in height, about 16 cm in width (including spout and handle), about 11 cm in maximum diameter, and the glasses measure about 7 cm in height and 6.5 cm in maximum diameter (they obviously have very slightly different dimensions).
