This sideboard is of unknown origin however surely belgian and likely has been build by aurora meubelfabriek (izegem) or coussens & bouckaert (roeselaere). The style resembles de coene however it can’t be traced back in literature as being de coene. We personally expect that it’s not de coene due to certain details. However, during the 60s and 70s many black oak sideboards were produced in (west) flanders, most noteworthy by aurora, coussens & bouckaert and de coene. The sideboard has strong resemblance to the belgian modernist post-wwii movement, such as the stained oak, the square door handles (resembling alfred hendrickx), the square feet and the way the hinging drawers have been constructed. The square door handles are certainly quite unique and never seen before. The way the sliding drawers are constructed is quite unique, whereby both sliding compartments are attached to one door, a bit in style with florence knoll. The sideboard has 4 hinging doors and every compartment is subdivided by inner boards. The sideboard is in remarkable good condition on the outside, with overall traces of use on the top and doors and the interior cabinets have some traces of use as well.
