A beautiful pair of lounge chairs manufactured by Durlet in Belgium during the 1960s. The chairs feature generous proportions and a distinctive high-backed silhouette, combining the comfort of a traditional lounge chair with the clean and understated character of Belgian modernist design. The chairs are fully upholstered in supple dark brown leather, with loose seat and back cushions that create a relaxed and inviting appearance. The gently curved sides flow into the armrests and surround the cushions, while the subtle winged shape of the backrest gives the chairs a particularly elegant profile. Solid teak tapered legs provide a warm contrast to the dark leather and visually lighten the substantial upholstered body. The original leather has developed a beautiful natural patina, with characteristic creasing and subtle traces of use that give the chairs considerable character. The generous cushions and high backrests make them exceptionally comfortable, while their restrained proportions allow them to work equally well as a pair or individually within an interior. Both chairs are in very good original condition, with wear consistent with age and use. The original Durlet upholstery fabric is present underneath the cushions, confirming the manufacturer.
