"Agaseke" box from Rwanda, Royal and Symbolic Art Weaving

Magnificent Agaseke box ("Basket of Peace") in traditional Rwandan weaving, originating from the Great Lakes region. Once reserved for the elite, this emblematic piece is now a strong symbol of harmony and reconciliation. Made using a spiral weaving technique sewn with sisal and natural rush, it stands out for the exceptional fineness of its stitches and its geometric black pattern radiating on a natural background, evoking the Rwandan hills.
