'Smile' coffee table - Danish design - mid-century modern - restored

This special coffee table is clearly inspired by the famous Danish 'smile table', a design introduced in the 1950s and 1960s by Johannes Andersen. The influence is immediately recognisable in the friendly lines and the clever, playful detail beneath the top. Although the exact designer and manufacturer of this piece are unknown, everything indicates a very high-quality production, likely Dutch. It is an extremely rare table where quality and attention to detail are immediately apparent, making this table even rarer than the model that inspired it. The shape is elegant and balanced. The rectangular top has rounded corners and subtly tapers towards the edges, giving the whole a light and refined appearance. The slender, slightly tapered legs give the table an open look, while the base features gently curved lines that add just a bit of tension to the design.
