3523 – large gilded and enamelled ambrino vase – ft legras from the 19th century, this large baluster-shaped glass vase with an undulating neck, twisted ribs, a degraded ambrino base and a gilded enamelled decoration of leaves and flowers attributed to the verreries & cristalleries de saint denis pantin and the quatre chemins réunies whose director at the age of 27 was the master glassmaker françois théodore legras (1839 -1916). In good condition, no cracks or chips. Presence of air bubbles trapped during blowing. Trace of the polished pontil with a small mark. Height 324 mm X 155 mm. Weight 1890 g. Very careful and tracked shipping. For information, the formula for this type of glassware (amberina) was patented in 1883 by joseph locke of the stourbridge glassworks (united kingdom) who emigrated to the united states and were born shortly after at moser in karlsbad and at legras in france.
