This earthenware virgin in labor is from the 18th century, no doubt about its age and authenticity, most likely from nevers. The virgin in labor is a statuette frequently found in homes from the 18th to the 19th century. On the head of the virgin, there is a hollowed-out crown at the bottom of which there is a hole two centimeters in diameter. Through this hole, holy water could be poured into the bottom of the statuette, but above all, a candle could be placed that was lit when the "labor" of the parturient began. Note traces of wear and friction, classic firing defects on this type of object, a restoration on the back part made later (visible in our photos). Our photos allow you to appreciate the quality of this statuette. For the condition, please detail the photos. Do not hesitate to zoom in. The photos are an integral part of the description. Dimensions: height: 26.2 cm width: 10.2 cm thickness: 9.5 cm m3496.
