Vintage ashtray 1950/1960, ceramic painted yellow and black with abstract reliefs and design. Enhanced with gilding, its look imposes and makes you want to use it as an empty pocket or decorative object. A signature on the back is not very legible but we guess monte-carlo france. For a whole generation, the 1950s were the flight of the big cities to the south of france. It is the time of a revival with the discovery of color in ceramics, with fernand léger, de staël, picasso and many others. Color and abstraction are essential. Kitsch is then only an expression of a glorious era, driven by a creative impulse without framework or morality. Everything is possible, everything must be fiery, personalized, bright, attractive, flashy, confusing, expressive and joyful. Kitsch is none other than the freedom of the mind, and if it shocks some, then it is absolutely rock n'roll! Dimensions (cm): diameter 12 X h4. Net weight 350g.
