Gilbert méténier, pitcher in flamed stoneware art deco, circa 1930. Small pitcher in blue and brown glazed stoneware, signed g.méténier on the reverse. In perfect condition. 12.5 X 14 cm. Gilbert méténier, born in moulins on september 30, 1876, succeeded his father louis méténier in 1920 and ensured the reputation of the stoneware of metenier art. The artware produced by méténier made extensive use of the techniques of iridescence and crystallization (crystalline enamels) for the decoration of the surfaces. The activity continued until 1940, when the ceramist would have destroyed all the molds "so that they do not fall into the hands of the occupier" the sandstones of méténier, sometimes called "gannat blues", are all the more sought after as their amateurs are assured of meeting only authentic pieces since, because of the destruction of molds and dies. Clean, fast and neat shipping or hand delivery to paris / reims / laon.
