This beautiful vintage powder box with crystal lid is signed rené lalique. Known as "the children", it was designed in 1931 by the artist. The exterior, frosted, is decorated with a series of cherubs in bas-relief, depicted with their arms extended above their heads, so that they seem to be wearing the lid of the room. The latter, also frosty, has a domed shape with a series of concentric staircase circles. The powder magazine is accompanied by its original ostrich feather ball, preciously preserved. It is in a very good state of conservation, and has only simple scratches underneath. René lalique is known as the source of the emergence of art nouveau in france, alongside the daum brothers, emile gallé, louis majorelle or charles catteau and charles schneider. After starting his career as a jeweler in 1881, he then created his own glassworks in the early twentieth century. His glass-making technique, which has earned him his fame on the french scale on the one hand, and then internationally on the other, consists in using clear crystal in combination with bas-relief crystal, frosted, finished and / or engraved with acid. René lalique, like many other art nouveau artists, was very strongly inspired by mythological figures.
