An original chaise longue Model 514C designed by Dirk van Sliedregt for Gebroeders Jonkers, Noordwolde, in 1961. One of Van Sliedregt's most distinctive designs, the 514C beautifully combines traditional Dutch craftsmanship in rattan with the modern, sleek lines of a slender black metal frame. The contrast between the natural woven seat and the industrial structure gives the chair its unique character. With its high back, generous proportions, and sculptural silhouette, the 514C is both a comfortable chaise longue and a striking piece of mid-century Dutch design. More than sixty years after its creation, its remarkably light and graphic appearance still seems completely contemporary. A wonderful example of post-war Dutch modernism and a characteristic design by Dirk van Sliedregt, whose work helped modernize traditional rattan furniture. In vintage good condition, with signs of age and use consistent with its history.
