Painted Folk Art Bridal Chest

This beautiful antique bridal chest dates from 1911 and has a highly decorative painting. This example comes from romania and is a beautiful example of folk art from that time. In the past, it was customary to give bridal furniture like this as a gift to the couple at a wedding. This furniture was subsequently placed on the farm in a stately room that was only rarely used for high-ranking visitors or special occasions. All our bridal chests have been checked and, if necessary, restored, although the characteristic appearance of these cases has been retained. This box has had some repairs to the bottom and has been completely treated against woodworm and provided with beeswax. This specimen is mainly decorated with floral paintings with a central love heart. 50cm high, 120cm wide, 60cm deep.
