A beautiful matched pair of Mandarin series wall lamps, designed by Michael Bang for Holmegaard, Denmark, dating to the 1980s. Both lamps retain their original Royal Warrant label — the blue crowned Holmegaard seal — a mark of authenticity and quality that serious collectors always look for. The Mandarin shade is one of Michael Bang's most elegant designs: a wide, gently flared disc of mouth-blown opal white glass that narrows into a graceful trumpet neck, the whole form suggesting both a mushroom and a megaphone — organic, sculptural and unmistakably of its era. The glass is a flawless milky white when unlit. Switch them on and the shade glows a warm, creamy amber from within, casting a generous upward wash of light onto the wall and ceiling that makes any room feel instantly more atmospheric. Each lamp comes complete with its original wall mounting hardware, as shown. Michael Bang worked at Holmegaard from 1968 to 1995 and is considered one of the most important figures in Danish glass design of the late 20th century. The Mandarin series remains among his most sought-after work. Designer: Michael Bang. Manufacturer: Holmegaard, Denmark. Series: Mandarin. Period: circa 1980s.
