Metal Janus Two-Faced Bookend by Pietro Fornasetti, 1950s

Rare metal bookend from the 1950s designed by Pietro Fornasetti. In the extraordinary creative imagination of Pietro Fornasetti, every household object is transformed and enhanced with unique and special decoration. This bookend features the Two-Faced Janus design and represents the first version of this piece, with a patina developed over time. The piece is attributed to the designer/maker but has no attribution mark. It was manufactured in Italy during the 1950s.
