Exotic vase in carved wood

Period: c. 1970. This decorative piece is very large and hand-carved with exotic floral patterns and geometric foliage. It is possibly a type of altar torch rather than a vase (the size of the hole does not really allow for flowers to be placed). The colour of the wood is warm. I do not know what type of wood it is. Condition: no damage. One of the edges has a notch, but this clearly dates back to the time it was made, as it has the same colour as the surrounding wood (see photo). Dimensions: see photo.
