Reproduction of a framed lithograph with protective glass and surrounded by a mount. Work extracted from "L’ampélographie", a general treatise on viticulture, published by Pierre Viala, general inspector of viticulture, in collaboration with Victor Vermorel. Frame size 45x36 cm, cream colour. The price is for one frame, but there are 11 others of 12 white and red grape varieties framed identically. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Bourboulenc, Chasselas Violet, Chenin Blanc, Cot, Grenache, Pinot Meunier, Marsanne, Chasselas Doré. Price for one frame, but a lower price can be arranged for the complete set of 12 frames or in groups of three or four frames. The work, a monumental piece, describes 5, 200 grape varieties in 3, 200 pages and 500 colour engravings, published by Masson between 1901 and 1910; it is the most important treatise on viticulture ever published. The authors enlisted the help of dozens of specialists from around the world: agricultural professors, agronomists, and oenologists. All vineyards are studied, each grape variety is described with its history, bibliography, planting, cultivation, use, and vinification. The 500 colour plates are painted by A. Kreyder and J. Troncy, and beautifully lithographed by the Champenois printing house. A magnificent work that is a reference in the world.
