Oval Mirror in Solid Carved Pine with Organic Shape. Brutalist. Around 1970.
The oval panel made of solid pine, with carefully chosen flame-grained wood, features an off-center oval mirror set in reserve, surrounded by a carved bevel whose slightly burnt edges highlight the design. At the bottom, a small crescent-shaped pocket, carved and integrated into the mass, serves as a wall-mounted catch-all or mail holder, enhancing the organic and functional character of the object. This work in solid pine with free forms and visible craftsmanship is characteristic of Scandinavian craftsmanship from the 1970s, which produces mirrors, hooks, and shelves in a soft brutalist spirit, celebrating the grain and knots of the wood. Condition assessment: Overall good condition. Healthy wood with a beautiful honey patina, original mirror may show possible pitting or micro-scratches from use. A charming mirror for an entryway, dressing room, or natural-style bathroom.
