Decorative set of six scandinavian tulip vases, designed by arthur percy for the swedish glassworks gullaskruf in the 1950s. The vases are made of blown, tinted glass in a beautiful harmony of colors: three in deep ruby red and three in blue. Slender shape, typical of scandinavian design of the time, with a narrow neck and rounded base. Each piece bears an original label "gullaskruf sweden". About arthur percy and gullaskruf: arthur percy (1886–1976) was a swedish artist and designer credited with modernizing the aesthetic of scandinavian glass in the 20th century. Initially a painter and illustrator, he turned to industrial design in the 1920s. His collaboration with the gullaskruf glassworks, founded in 1893 in southern sweden, began in the 1940s. There, he developed a clean, organic formal language characterized by sleek lines and vibrant colors. The mouth-blown "tulip" vases in deep hues perfectly illustrate the functional elegance of postwar swedish design. These pieces are now sought after for their craftsmanship and timelessness.
