Antique pine bonnetière (renovated)

A piece of character from the Alsatian or Vosgian rural tradition, this bonnetière showcases the popular cabinet-making skills of the late 19th century. Its robust silhouette, generous cornice, and balanced proportions make it a piece of furniture that is both authentic and perfectly adaptable to contemporary interiors seeking warmth and authenticity. Materials: solid pine. Features: the bonnetière is centred around a single door with three superimposed moulded panels, a typical treatment of peasant carpentry from the Rhine region. The overhanging cornice with a projection gives the piece a marked architectural presence. The corners are treated with chamfered edges, a distinctive detail that visually lightens the mass of the case. At the bottom, a discreet drawer with a round wooden handle adds an extra functionality. The piece rests on two ball feet at the front. The door lock is functional. Renovation: this antique bonnetière has been sanded to clean it while preserving the patina of time, which adds to its charm. It has then been carefully washed and protected with a colourless wax. One rear foot was broken and has been repaired. Condition: the bonnetière shows signs of past wood-boring insect activity. It is heavy and robust. Dimensions: L122 X D57 X H188.
