Splendid art deco ceramic in blue and beige flaming sandstone with a removable cap. It is signed gilbert méténier, circa 1930, born in moulins on september 30, 1876, succeeded in 1920 to his father louis méténier and ensured the fame of the sandstones of méténier art. The art sandstones produced by gilbert méténier made extensive use of the techniques of iridescent and crystallizations (crystalline enamels) for the decoration of surfaces. The activity continued until 1940, when gilbert méténier destroyed all the mussels "so that they do not fall into the hands of the occupier" The sandstones of méténier, sometimes called "gannat blues", are all the more sought after because their amateurs are guaranteed to encounter only authentic pieces since, due to the destruction of moulds and dies, it is not technically possible to make copies of the pieces created by this factory between 1920 and 1939.  Size: h 24 cm l 12 cm. Ideal for decoration on a pretty dresser or library. Sending fast and neat.
