Stoneware vase signed by Eugène Lion, school of Jean Carriès in St Amand en Puisaye. This piece features a simple and well-balanced silhouette, with a slightly narrowed belly towards the base and a wide circular opening. Its glazing offers beautiful shades, ranging from brown, black, smoky violet to metallic reflections, with a particularly interesting copper/iron effect that adds depth to the surface. The overall impression is one of a mineral and refined presence, typical of artist stoneware where the material and firing play an essential role. Eugène Lion, born in 1867 and passed away in 1945, comes from a family of potters established in Puisaye since 1750. Trained in the family workshop, he developed his work in contact with Jean Carriès and is part of this tradition of artistic stoneware, while bringing a personal sensitivity marked by Japonese tones. He is also recognised for his research on glazes, particularly copper red, which significantly contributed to his reputation. A major artist, referenced in the book "Grès de Puisaye - from Jean Carriès to the present day - Marks and signatures". Dimensions: Height: 10 cm. Diameter: 6.5 cm. Signed. Perfect condition.
