A ceiling lamp from the 1930s, produced in Germany, exemplifying the decorative Art Deco style. The main feature is a double-layered glass shade in a warm cream colour with a yellow undertone, featuring a satin, slightly glossy surface. Rhythmic, vertical grooves give the shade a gently ribbed texture and emphasise its bulbous form. Hand-painted pastel floral motifs – in shades of pink, beige, and light brown – are complemented by small ribbon-like ornaments. The fixture and ceiling rose are made of dark, matte material resembling ebonite, with a delicate patina especially visible on the rosette and suspension stem. Harmonised proportions – spherical shade, chalice-shaped ceiling rose, and simple axis – highlight the geometric decoration typical of the era. The lamp is in very good condition, with signs of age in the form of subtle scratches, especially on the metal details and the upper part of the shade, attesting to its originality and lack of restoration. This lamp exudes the elegance of German Art Deco, expressed both through the mathematical regularity of the vertical grooves and the finesse of the hand-painted flowers. When light filters through the creamy, double-layered glass, it softly diffuses over the pastel ornaments and semi-glossy ribs, evoking the atmosphere of the interwar period: an era of urban modernity, subtle decorativeness, and attention to detail. Every part of this object tells of a time when form and decoration met in the name of modern elegance – like the echo of a piano sound spreading through a salon of those years. The lamp will fit perfectly in a space inspired by classic eclectic interiors or 1930s modernism. It can be paired with simple, lacquered furniture of geometric shapes, nickel or glass accessories, and heavier fabrics in subtle, uniform colours. It works well above a round, veneered dining table or in a living room with a muted colour palette, where its soft light will highlight both antique parquet and contemporary minimalist furniture. It is worth combining it with other objects from the interwar period or, for contrast, with simple contemporary forms – in both cases, the shade will become a subtle yet distinct focal point of the space.
