Exceptional modernist desk with double drawers designed by the legendary collective A.R.P. (Atelier de Recherche Plastique), founded by Pierre Guariche, Joseph-André Motte, and Michel Mortier. Published in the mid-1950s by Les Huchers-Minvielle, this model is a centrepiece of French Reconstruction design. Architectural base in black lacquered tubular metal, characterised by its iconic X-shaped side braces that combine rigidity and graphic finesse. Two suspended drawers in warm wood veneer. One opens to two large drawers (one of which is a filing drawer), the other to three drawers. The empty space between the drawers and the top creates a very airy "floating" effect, typical of the ARP style. Clean facades with profiled "gorge" handles directly integrated into the wood. A historical piece, elegant and perfectly functional, ideal for a contemporary interior or a 20th-century design collection. An exceptional piece that adapts to your needs and desires: You can choose to remove one or two drawers and the connecting panel, thus creating an airy and graphic structure. An evolving and timeless high-end piece, combining elegance and functionality. Dimensions: Materials: Teak veneer / Metal. Colour: Wood / Black. Height: 75cm. Length: 160cm. Depth: 70cm. Note: Very good condition, one key missing from the two. Designer: A.R.P. (Guariche, Motte, Mortier) Publisher: Les Huchers-Minvielle. Era: Circa 1955.
