A distinctive handmade Beni Ouarain rug that explores traditional Moroccan weaving through a very contemporary architectural composition. Rather than relying on contrasting colours, the artisan creates the entire design through varying heights of pile and exposed flat weave sections, allowing texture, relief, and shadow to define the pattern. The composition is particularly striking: concentric rectangular lines frame the rug and lead to a central panel combining raised horizontal and diagonal bands. It has an almost sculptural quality while retaining the irregularity and warmth of a piece entirely handmade. Each rug is handwoven by Amazigh (Berber) artisans, made from 100% natural sheep wool, woven on a traditional Berber loom, individually knotted and finished by hand, created using traditional Moroccan weaving techniques and completely unique. No mass production — only authentic Berber craftsmanship. Colour palette: natural ivory, warm cream, soft oat tones from the exposed woven foundation. The subtle tonal variations come naturally from the wool and different weaving techniques rather than contrasting colours. This rug is defined by its geometric relief construction. The raised wool lines form a series of interlocking rectangular frames, while the central section introduces horizontal bands that transform into rhythmic diagonal lines. Between them, flatter weaving sections remain visible, creating depth and highlighting the hand-knotted pile. The design subtly changes with the light: shadows along the raised wool make the geometry more pronounced under directional sunlight, while softer indoor lighting gives the rug a calmer, almost monochromatic appearance. The slight variations in line width and alignment are particularly important — they reveal the artisan's hand and distinguish the piece from mechanically produced geometric rugs.
