Decorative mirror by Marcel Vangeerbergen (1933-2007), a Belgian ceramist trained at the Beaux-Arts in Tourcoing in the early 1950s. Established in his own workshop from 1953, he developed a unique body of work combining ceramics, copper enamelling, and decorative creations. This circular mirror features a frame rhythmically adorned with a succession of golden drop-shaped motifs, each embellished with a blue glass cabochon. The whole evokes a stylised sun and reflects the artist's taste for material effects, light, and the complex enamelling techniques that established his reputation. According to family testimonies, Vangeerbergen mastered particularly elaborate processes combining stoneware, enamelled copper, and gilding, making some of his creations highly sought after and difficult to find today. This piece is in very good condition and constitutes a beautiful decorative object, at the intersection of ceramic art and wall art from the 1960s-1970s.
