Vintage suspension by Hans Agne Jakobsson, model Selectra, circa 1960. Hans-Agne Jakobsson, Selectra, 12 lights, brass and lacquered sheet metal. The light fixture consists of repetitive cubic metal modules, stacked in an offset and tiered formation, creating a rhythmic, almost pixelated geometry. Each cube overlaps the next, forming a horizontal volume akin to a chandelier rather than a traditional single-element suspension. The finish appears to be a matte white, softening the assertive geometry and allowing the shape to appear sharp and minimalist. The light is indirect and carefully controlled: the stacked cubes conceal the bulbs, preventing any glare while allowing a warm light to diffuse downwards and subtly outwards between the planes. This creates depth and shadows, giving the lamp a dynamic quality that changes with the angle of view. Brass elements are visible at the suspension point and internal fittings, providing a warm metallic contrast to the white surfaces and enhancing the mid-20th-century aesthetic. The fixture is suspended by thin cables, visually lightening its imposing form and giving it an almost floating appearance. Provenance: light fixture specially commissioned, made in 1965 for a building in Laholm, Sweden. Dimensions: width: 90 cm / depth: 64 cm / height: adjustable.
