A beautiful double-sided free-standing mirror designed by Nazareno Noja for Studio Alchimia in Italy in 1976. This is as much a practical mirror as it is an art piece (it never went in production!). Made of high quality red painted wood with mirrored glass on each side. The piece has a plug at the side for connecting electrical appliances and the plug to connect it with is attached at the top (it’s meant to be plugged in the ceiling). It also has two drawers at the base as shown in photos. This mirror is named “Rendez Vous” and was made by Noja as part of his “Gifts for the Bride” exhibition at studio Alchimia. The different pieces of this collection were all designed with the bride in mind, embracing the elements of a wedding as well as exploring the differences, similarities and grey area between men and women. This mirror fit in that collection for its shape, bold colour and also the double sided part of the mirror. It reflects a physical representation of the theme as well as the experience of standing in front of someone, yet seeing yourself. This unique piece remains in very good, vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. There’s some cracking to the painted wood as shown in photos.
