Pair of chairs from the Art Nouveau period, Nancy school, 1900

Pair of chairs from the Art Nouveau period, Nancy school, 1900. They feature high backs made of moulded and carved wood, adorned with a remarkable stylised floral decoration with long sinuous lines, characteristic of the naturalistic vocabulary of Art Nouveau. The very vertical design of the backs gives the whole a particularly decorative silhouette. The seats are upholstered with woven straw, while the turned legs are joined by stretchers. Beautiful old patina of the wood. Some marks and signs of use are visible, particularly on the reverse of the backs, in line with the age of the seats. An original and decorative model, representative of the formal explorations of Art Nouveau around 1900. Period: circa 1900. Style: Art Nouveau. Material: carved walnut, straw.
