Superb pair of sconces by mattia bonetti, commissioned by the hôtel cristal in paris in 2009. The structure is made of patinated metal in an aged bronze effect, with vinyl shades imitating crystal. They are adjustable and can rotate on their axis. These sconces are emblematic of mattia bonetti's commitment to an avant-garde, romantic, and always highly decorative style. Fully restored, they are in exceptional condition. We own six sconces in total. Mattia bonetti was born in lugano, switzerland, in 1952, and trained at the centro scolastico industrie artistiche in lugano. He moved to paris in 1972 and worked as a consultant, textile designer, and art photographer before embarking on furniture design in 1979 with élisabeth garouste. His work covers a wide spectrum, from award-winning furniture design to interior design projects. In 1987, he created the logo and visual identity for christian lacroix, its showroom, and its boutiques. 2009 was probably his most prolific year, with the complete redesign of the hôtel cristal on the champs-élysées in paris, and the redesign of the mark hotel in new york in partnership with jacques grange.
