This elegant vintage sugar tongs is made of German silver-plated metal from the WMF silverware company. It is a lovely utensil for serving sugar cubes or ice cubes. Small in size, it is adorned with a frieze of crossed ribbons. Produced by WMF in Germany, it bears the hallmark "WMF 1/0". The WMF company was founded in 1853 in Germany by Daniel Straub, who partnered with the Schweizer brothers. The company diversified and offered quality metal objects, tableware, and coffee machines. It is recognised for the quality of its creations at various world exhibitions, including the one in London in 1862. The Art Nouveau period and its fluid forms inspired the designers. The 1920s marked a shift towards more sober and functional shapes. As part of the creation of the new craft service (NSA) in 1927, WMF enhanced its standard range with unusual collections created by renowned designers and architects. Today, WMF tasting and table objects are a guarantee of quality and design. The company is present in 90 countries. In good condition, this sugar tongs measures 10 cm. Note: signs of use and traces of oxidation.
