Pair of black patinated ceramic sculptures representing "the thinker" and "the seated woman", emblematic figures of the neolithic hamangia culture (circa 5000 bc, present-day romania). Stylized and meditative, these silhouettes are inspired by the famous statuettes discovered at cernavodă, now exhibited at the museum of constanța. The hamangia culture is distinguished by its mostly female figurines, often seated or standing, perhaps evoking divinities or important social figures of an already agricultural and pastoral society. The two sculptures rest on contrasting natural marble bases – one veined white, the other darker – bringing stability and elegance to the whole. Approximately 12 cm high, each piece displays a uniform patina and expressive modeling. No restoration or chips to report. Ideal for displaying as a pair on a console, desk, or in a bookcase. A rare decorative object, between archeology and modernity.
