3 chairs "Modo 290" 1966 Steen Østergaard for Cado

3 chairs composite fiberglass / nylon, model "Modo flesh 290" designer Steen Ostergaard for Cado 1966. In pretty good condition, no cracks, stable and comfortable (they of course traces of time spent, mainly discoloration, which is normal given their age). Bluish gray color. Seat height 42 cm. The base consists of a base just balance the seat overhanging cantilevered: the "290" cantilever system abolishes junctions, solder and other assemblies. It is the first Chair molded from a single piece of nylon and fiberglass composite material. Since its first edition in 1966 this furniture becomes an icon to the Denmark, inaugurating a long series. Kinship with Verner Panton Chair edited in 1967 by Vitra will not have escaped you. The two designers who worked for a time, the origin of the original design remains a mystery! The flesh roughly 290, logically, will seduce during its first years of production the amateurs already anchored in the future: Nasa, science fiction like Star Trek or even the famous agent 007 movies. Cado (initially named France & Daverkosen at its creation in 1948), Danish modernist furniture company enters a new era when the Danish designer renamed Poul Cadovius (1911-2011) takes the reins a few times between 1964 and 1967.
